Description
The first question one might have about this new Sufix Braid is, what the heck is HMPE and why not Dyneema? Well, here are a few, textbook benefits of the High Modulus PolyEtheylene, HMPE fibers, but keep reading to get to the practical differences between the Sufix X8 braid, which is the replacement for Sufix Performance Pro 8:
Good Abrasion Resistance
Longer Life Time
More Compact
Minimal Elongation
Firm Construction and Balanced Torque
Lets start from the basics. The X8 is Sufixs new budget 8-strand braid, replacing the performance orientated Pro 8. Sufix has accustomed us to differentiated products and does not hesitate to experiment to find the right mixture for everyone. For example, the award winning Sufix 832 is a tough as hell braid, but feels a little bit thicker and rougher, than the slightly thinner Sufix Pro 8. The brand new Sufix X8 is as smooth, round and thin as most anglers using 8-strand braids, would like.
The Sufix X8 braid behaves immaculately, is very strong when you tie it to fluorocarbon leader and flows uninhibited through the guides, when you blast lures. The X8 will also retain its color longer than most braids.
Up to this point you might think that, these are claims made by most braided lines in the market, so where is a real difference with the X8? X8 is indeed, a substantial upgrading of the Pro 8 braid. Sufix based its production on new, thin sized carriers developed by Toyobo Nippon Dyneema company. This allowed Sufix to make all X8 sizes with 8 strands of the same thickness. 8 carriers of thin HMPE fibers creates a super strong, thin braided line that has high abrasion resistance and superb knot and shock strength. This makes the line rounder, but also smoother, without the small bumps you feel when you mix carriers of different thickness. Sufix has utilized the R8 Precision Braiding technology, with a high tension weaving process results in a round, supple and smooth braided line with consistent diameter and quality.
The diameters are also more accurate than before. The line is softer because Sufix has used a Japanese style coloring with a thinner layer. So the X8 line is soft and silky smooth, which results in low friction in the rod guides, silent performance and long, accurate casts. The Sufix X8 has been designed for both casting and spinning reels.
Add to the above the excellent strength to diameter ratio, the easy handling and the long casting properties and you will realize why the Sufix X8 is an advancement of most braided lines in the market.
