Description
Slow Jigging is a technical fishing style that has become very popular in Japan and around the world, elevating the classic game of jigging to another dimension. Slow pitch jigging is not the same as slow reeling. It is a continuous sequence of stop and go pitches. Its basically one pitch per second. That tempo is very slow compared to the conventional style of jigging and has three main variations that can be combined: Slow Pitch Jerk, Hi Pitch Jerk, Long Fall Jerk. Of course it requires specialized Slow jigs.
The Shimano Game Type offshore jigging rod range offers specific models for Slow jigging. This flagship Slow Jigging series is perfect for all popular slow jigging methods in the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. The blanks are enhanced with Shimano Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X technologies that guarantee incredible strength and performance, eliminating the blank torsion when jigging and fighting a fish.
Shimano has studied the requirements of the Slow Jigging extensively and developed this rod series, particularly for this technique. The rod is set at 6’8″ long to have sufficient length for the taper of the rod, to work its magic on the jig. Anglers will be enticed by its amazing action and smooth loading of the blank.
The Game Type Slow J rods have been equipped with a sensitive tip, which allows for excellent line tension control to cater to changing fishing conditions.
This technique and this rod series is best combined with a baitcasting, or multiplier reel, that allows you to know exactly when your lure has reached the bottom, enables you to control the depth level of the jig and transmits to your palm any direct contact with your line.
Three models are available, to match different requirements in terms of jig weight and depth.

Spiral X construction consists of three layers: a blank made of vertical fibers, an inner layer, and an outer layer both comprised of carbon tape that tightly winds the blank diagonally in opposite directions. By using this carbon tape in place of a conventional horizontal fiber sheet, Spiral X achieves enhanced torsional rigidity without adding extra weight. This in turn facilitates instant power transmission for precise casting and fighting fish. Through its exclusive lightweight structure, Shimano’s Spiral X construction enhances anglers’ «catching power.»
In Hi-Power X construction, the blank’s outermost layer is diagonally wrapped with carbon tape, which forms an array of «X» shapes. The width of the tape, its winding angle and the part of the rod being wrapped are fine-tuned according to the target fish species. The flexibility allows Shimano to adjust these wraps during construction for precise actions, enhanced overall strength and added twist resistance. In short, Hi-Power X construction delivers sharp and crisp rod control by the angler.
